Not yet convinced to give up grains?

I have just finished watching this quirky and very informative 33 minute video on You Tube called Get Out of the Gluten Glut. The video (see link below) features Anne Buzzelli who is a Registered Dietitian with a Masters in Nutrition from Bastyr University in Seattle. She has a private nutrition practice in Staunton, Virginia called BuzzNutrition.

She presents some fascinating facts about  grains (especially wheat) such as:


  • the wheat we eat today is genetically so different from ancient wheat that our bodies can’t even recognise it
  • genetic modification of wheat has never been tested for safety
  • what is gluten and how does  it affect our health?
  • grains contain toxic compounds which makes us sick
  • wheat can cause inflammation and immune responses
  • grains can cause weight gain, especially visceral (belly) fat which is hard to lose and dangerous to your health and
  • then lastly she also touches on celiac disease and gluten sensitivity

Well worth a watch – even if it is just for its quirkiness and entertainment value!

  1. How come it does not affect me,(71) my 2 brothers,(78 and 84) brother-in-law (88). The 75 year old across the road and none of our health is dented in any way. I am not saying what is been suggested is false. I am not convinced yet.

    • I think it is awesome that you all feel so well and healthy. Well done – you are obviously doing something right. Sometimes I believe the best way to “be convinced” is to conduct a little experiement of your own. We often don’t know how much better we could feel until we try. I challenge you to cut out grains for 30 days and document how you feel in terms of energy levels, concentration, weight, belt size, sleep patterns, ability to cope with stress etc. You may even be pleasantly suprised.
