Need help losing weight?

Last week saw a dream come true for me. My goal and passion has always been to share with others what I know about the Banting way of eating (low-carb, moderate protein and high fat). I truly believe that it is the best way to good health and vitality. Last week I was honoured to be training side by side with one of South Africa’s top nutritionists, Sally-Ann Creed (who is also co-author of the Real Meal Revolution). Yes, that red book!

PCOS? Seriously?

Last month I received some news. Now, depending on which way you look at things it can either be good news or bad news.  I will first focus on why this news was “good” and then I will very honestly share the part of my heart that can’t help but think, “well that is pretty crap news!” Last month I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).  It is basically an endocrine disorder which results in a hormonal imbalance in your body. I am not going to go into any huge amount of detail – that is what Google is for – but I want to share my personal experience and how this relates to my own struggle to lose weight. Fat foibles

There are lots of people Banting but not everyone is losing weight. This is especially true in the female population of Banters.  It is not that the Banting way of eating doesn’t work for them. They just might not be doing it correctly.  For the record, I believe Banting is a healthy way of eating for everyone. Fat or thin, young or old. Cutting out grains, sugar, toxic seed oils and processed food is going to seriously improve many aspects of your health. But you could pile on the kilos (or not lose any) if you don’t pay attention to how much fat you are eating. Read the rest of this entry
