Could grains be destroying your brain?
Did you know that our brains are highly sensitive to what we eat? Unfortunately, our modern diets are straining our very physiology and our poor abused bodies are struggling to cope. Many of our brain-related illnesses, from depression to dementia are closely related to what we decide to put into our mouths. Diabetes is becoming an epidemic around the world, and what is scary is that having diabetes doubles your risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease …. and there is no cure for Alzheimer’s. But what Dr David Perlmutter wants us to all know in his book, Grain Brain, is that we CAN influence our health and genetic destiny by making the right choices. This post will briefly outline what some of those choices could be.
Banting gave me freedom
Lately I have given quite a bit of thought to my motivation to keep eating this way. What drives me? Why has my experience with Banting (low carb/high fat) been so different from all the other diets I have tried over the years? This is a very important question, and one that will require a very honest answer, if I am to help others. In this post I will share with you my three main reasons for eating this way, and why I will always eat this way. Awesome bread recipe (free from gluten and dairy)
I like trying different recipes to vary flavours and also to find my favourites. You know ….. the ones you tend to make over and over again because they are yummy and easy? In this post I share one of my favourite recipes I found for bread that is dairy-free, grain and gluten-free as well as seed-free. I think I found it in the Sunday Times.
