You feel rather proud of yourself when you stand on the scale and assess the progress you have made.  Wow, 5 kilos lost in a month – fantastic!  Then your colleague brings a delicious chocolate cake to the office.  Ten minutes later, while you wipe the crumbs off your top lip, you think to yourself, “What just happened?”  One cheat leads to another and before you know it you are sliding down the slippery slope back into old habits and your track suit pants with the elasticized waist.  Why is it that our motivation levels ebb and flow like the ocean? In my opinion, this is definitely one of those books that anyone who is serious about weight loss and health should own. It offers a holistic approach and level of detail that will certainly help you understand why we get fat and what we can do about it. It is also very well priced at around R 190 for 180 pages worth of good content. To find all this information in one place and written in an easy to understand way is a real bonus. This book has the potential to make a really positive contribution to the numerous South Africans who are struggling to lose weight, or who want to take their Banting diet to the next level. DIET is an action word

I have given this a lot of thought, and in this post I would like to share my insights with you. The battle against the bulge is one that I have been fighting since I was a child. At times, life’s hurdles made me feel like I was truly fighting a losing battle. Years of fertility treatments, 2 pregnancies, and a hormonal disorder certainly doesn’t bode well for obtaining the slim physique I have always dreamed about. However, my long journey has been an education I wouldn’t want to have missed out on had weight loss and improved health come too easily. My personal journey: An update

Last week I celebrated my birthday –  the big 40.  Although I am totally chilled about having reached this milestone, it definitely has been a time of reflection for me. I can look back over the last few decades, knowing that my life has been abundantly blessed.

I have a wonderful family, amazing friends and a lovely home.  I feel proud to have achieved so many of my goals –  this blog being one of them.

What still eludes me however, is ridding my body once and for all of the excess weight. It has been my life-long struggle and it’s getting old. Read the rest of this entry
