Years of fertility treatments, 2 pregnancies, and a hormonal disorder certainly doesn’t bode well for obtaining the slim physique I have always dreamed about. However, my long journey has been an education I wouldn’t want to have missed out on had weight loss and improved health come too easily. Every day I thank God for his blessings and guidance, which assures me that I am not walking this road alone. Read the rest of this entry

Note from Nicky: I am always so inspired when I see people turn their lives around, and reclaim the life they want, and deserve. Can I eat as much as I want on LCHF? My short answer to this question is, “No, you can’t”. BUT, you can eat as much as you NEED to feel satisfied. Lately I have given quite a bit of thought to my motivation to keep eating this way. What drives me? Why has my experience with Banting (low carb/high fat) been so different from all the other diets I have tried over the years? This is a very important question, and one that will require a very honest answer, if I am to help others. In this post I will share with you my three main reasons for eating this way, and why I will always eat this way. I love it when people ask questions and engage in dialogue to find out more about the Banting lifestyle. It means they have open minds. Minds willing to learn. This is the mark of an intelligent person. Science is not static but is constantly evolving. If the Food Pyramid guidelines (emphasising grains and carbs) actually worked, wouldn’t we all be thinner and healthier than we are today? Instead we are fatter – much fatter, and suffering from serious diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s and heart disease. So this post if for those intelligent people willing to explore new paradigms.
Last week saw a dream come true for me. My goal and passion has always been to share with others what I know about the Banting way of eating (low-carb, moderate protein and high fat). I truly believe that it is the best way to good health and vitality. Last week I was honoured to be training side by side with one of South Africa’s top nutritionists, Sally-Ann Creed (who is also co-author of the Real Meal Revolution). Yes, that red book!

Most people focus on the weight-loss aspect of a LCHF way of eating. For many people it is the diet that FINALLY works for them and allows them to easily maintain their weight-loss. But in this post, I share with you one woman’s incredible story of how LCHF healed an intolerable skin condition for which none of the doctors and specialists she consulted could find a cure. My friend’s journey back to health illustrates very powerfully how the food we eat impacts not just our waistlines, but our health. This is Helen’s story……. Read the rest of this entry
